Description

The Chamaeleon complex is a star-forming region deep in the southern celestial hemisphere, named for its location in the constellation Chamaeleon (though it extends into several nearby constellations.) The bright reflection nebula near the top is IC 2631. The pale orange chevron-shaped structure near the center is the Chamaeleon Infrared Nebula; it's created by a very young low mass star, obscured in visible light by a band of dust.

This is my second attempt at capturing this area of the sky, and I decided this time to go with a use a two-panel mosaic to capture all of the densest dusty structures.
